Ten years. That’s how long a mother had cried silently, lighting a diya every night, praying that her daughter — lost, mentally unwell, and possibly wandering unknown streets — would one day return.
Her daughter had walked away from home one morning, confused and unaware of her surroundings. No one saw her again. The family searched villages, temples, hospitals… in vain. Slowly, hope faded, but a mother’s heart never forgets.
Then, in 2022, a woman arrived at our Ashram. She was quiet, disoriented, but often repeated a word that seemed like a name. It became our clue — our trail of breadcrumbs.
Our volunteers worked tirelessly, contacting local police stations, comparing missing person reports, and finally — finally — we found a lead in Maharashtra.
When her family arrived at the Ashram, the moment was indescribable. A mother fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face, hugging her lost child as if she’d never let go again.
It wasn’t just a reunion. It was a broken family made whole again.
This is the power of compassion, of persistence, of not giving up on those whom society has discarded. And none of this happens without you.
